Why is there a black line on Mac screen?
I recently noticed a black line on mac screen and I'm not sure what caused it. It stays visible most of the time, even after restarting my Mac. Has anyone experienced this before? What are the possible reasons, and are there any troubleshooting steps I should try before taking it in for repair?

A black line on your Mac screen may result from a software glitch, a damaged display, a loose display cable, graphics issues, or physical screen damage.

A black line on a Mac screen can be caused by several issues, including a damaged display, a loose or faulty display cable, graphics hardware problems, or a software glitch. If the line disappears after restarting or updating macOS, it may be software-related. However, if it remains visible at all times especially after restarting or in Recovery Mode—it often indicates a hardware problem, such as a failing screen or graphics component. If basic troubleshooting doesn't resolve the issue, it's best to have the Mac inspected by Apple or an authorized service provider.

A black line on a Mac screen can be caused by a software glitch, display settings, a loose display cable, or hardware damage. I’d first restart the Mac and check if the line appears in Safe Mode or on an external monitor. If it remains visible everywhere, the issue is likely hardware-related and may require professional repair.
