What is an enclosure for hard disk, and do I need one to use an old internal drive as external storage?
I have an old internal drive and I'm thinking about getting an enclosure for hard disk. How do I choose the right one, and are there any speed or compatibility issues I should know about before buying?

A hard disk enclosure is a case that lets you use an internal HDD or SSD as an external USB drive. If you want to reuse an old internal drive for portable storage or backups, you'll typically need a compatible enclosure that matches your drive's size and interface (such as 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA).
