How to recover unsaved excel file after it was closed without saving?
I accidentally closed an Excel file without saving and lost my changes. Is there a way to recover unsaved excel file using built-in features or temporary files? I'd appreciate any methods that have worked for others.

Recover an unsaved Excel file by opening File > Info > Manage Workbook, checking AutoRecover, or searching temporary files. Save the recovered version immediately to prevent permanent data loss.

If Excel was not saved, start the application again, and locate the Document Recovery pane or the Recover Unsaved Workbooks option. If AutoRecover is turned on, you could also look for AutoRecover files if they were opened beforehand when the document was accidentally closed.

To recover an unsaved Excel file, check File > Info > Manage Workbook > Recover Unsaved Workbooks, look in the AutoRecover folder, or restore a previous version from OneDrive or backups. Save the recovered file immediately to avoid losing it again.

When an Excel file is closed without saving, reopen Excel and check the Document Recovery panel or use Recover Unsaved Workbooks under the File menu. You can also search the AutoRecover location if the feature was enabled before the file was closed unexpectedly.
